There is no doubt that Western Astrologers would greatly benefit from certain principles used in Vedic Astrology. It would not be surprising if those who explored the subject, ended up adopting the Vedic system wholly in place of their own system, which is usually the case.

For those who are interested in benefitting from the Vedic system whilst retaining their own, one would certainly find the use of the Nakshatras or Lunar Mansions helpful. In fact at one point of time the Lunar Mansions did occupy a place in Western Astrology.

It would also be helpful for Western Astrologers to use the Dasa (Planetary Period) system of prediction, which would give much more specific insights into future affairs than "Transits" alone will allow. This of course would have to be based on the Sidereal Zodiac, as the Tropical Zodiac would not produce any accurate results.

Another area of Western Astrology which can be transformed is the use of Sun Sign Astrology. Vedic seers have realized the importance of the Moon in influencing daily affairs, and not the Sun. If th media were to replace Sun Sign predictions with Moon Sign predictions based on the Sidereal Zodiac, we would really be getting somewhere. Moon Sign predictions based on the Sidereal Zodiac would be far more accurate than anything the current Sun Sign Astrology can produce, and perhaps a more serious acceptance of astrology by the general public would begin to take root.
